Chemical Filter

A type of sunscreen. Once applied to the skin, chemical filters get the protective job done by absorbing UV rays at a cellular level. Products with chemical filters become effective approximately 30 minutes after application. If the words “mineral” or “physical” are not indicated on the sunscreen’s packaging, it means that the formula usually has chemical filters. Avobenzone, oxybenzone, octocrylene, PABA, Tinosorb S/M, Mexoryl SX/XL and the Uvinul family are among often used filters of this category.
