10 Lip Balms You Can Kiss Your Baby With
When a product might touch a baby’s skin, the “clean beauty” checklist gets a little more specific. I’ve picked 10 untinted, fragrance-free lip balms to care for your lips between baby kisses.
Text Valerie Dayan
Kissing my baby may be the most precious moment of any day. I do it softly, slowly and, of course, without any lipstick on my lips. As a forever lipstick girl, I’ve stopped wearing any sort of color while Ella’s awake. I do, however, still have to take care of my lips with a balm, especially now that it’s fall and they dry out more easily.
Not just any lip balm. It has to be something colorless, chosen with baby kisses in mind. The overused term “clean beauty” gets a whole new meaning when a product might touch a baby’s skin. For me, that means looking at the full ingredient list: untinted formulas without added fragrance or essential oils. I’ve picked 10 lip balms to keep my lips soft between all those kisses. Fragrance-free doesn’t mean allergy-free, though, so known sensitivities still matter.
Editor’s note: Please ask a parent’s permission before kissing a baby who isn’t yours, even if you’re wearing one of these lip balms. Avoid the face and hands, and skip kisses altogether if you’re unwell or have a cold sore.
