Simple yet accomplished olfactive compositions are one of the biggest challenges of the perfume industry, much like in all creative industries. The defining characteristics of the new generation of clean and airy fragrances are their durability, effortlessness, and unique natures. We’ve rounded up fresh and seasonless fragrances that each deserve recognition for teaching lessons in quiet creativity. What’s more is that they are ahead of traditional binary categories of gender, making them utterly contemporary. A little warning: You might meet your clean olfactive soulmate below.
Aesop Tacit, $140
Tacit is as charismatic and refreshing as a scent could get. Citrus and basil notes evoke a gentle breeze blowing off the Mediterranean coast.
Chanel Bel Respiro, $425

Louis Vuitton Cactus Garden, $300
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, Louis Vuitton's master perfumer and creator of Les Parfums collection, calls the creations cologne perfumes. As the name implies, Cactus Garden from Les Parfums is created around green notes and has the lightness of cologne but with lasting qualities. In our opinion, what makes this refreshing scent interesting is the maté note.
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt, £110
This woody, salty composition is an ode to the deep blue sea and sea foam. Our founder Valerie has been a fan of this fragrance for a long time, especially of the sage note that brings an unexpected earthy flair.
Buly 1803 Eau Triple Scottish Lichen, €135
