As someone notorious for being unable to pack light, I feel eligible to recommend travel beauty routines – because I’m picking out just the right products for the person I aspire to be. I’m one of those people who wants to feel the comfort of her home wherever she goes (even if that trip lasts for 24 hours), and over the years, this has proven to be a failed approach on so many levels: My precious serums unfit for packing have spilled all over my clothes; I’ve had to carry really heavy bags for no sensible reason; and worst, I have been mean to myself for carrying unuseful things on so many different occasions. The truth is – and I’m addressing this to anyone, like me, who wants options during holidays – there is no logical reason to travel with your complete beauty routine except for true necessities. Unless you’re traveling to a deserted island (if that is the case, please let me know, and I will happily prepare a unique Castaway beauty report), you can also probably find what you’re lacking at the local pharmacy/drugstore/beauty shop. And also, you probably won’t be using that third eyeshadow palette while concentrating on actually enjoying your holidays. This summer, I have decided to change my ways and become a beauty editor with a streamlined vanity bag that bears the true lightness of holidays. Here’s to not complicating life for ourselves and carrying bags filled with effective products that will get the deed done.
